“If something is boring after two minutes, try it for four. If still boring, then eight. Then sixteen. Then thirty-two. Eventually one discovers that it is not boring at all.” John Cage

About the Artist

Francesco Pio Gennarelli is a composer and pianist. His work explores time, perception, and the boundaries of musical structure. Inspired by John Cage’s As Slow As Possible (ASLSP), he investigates music at extreme tempi, from immersive, long-form durations that challenge the listener’s sense of time to rapid rhythmic textures that dissolve into pure sound.Marco Bianchi began his musical studies at an early age under the guidance of [first teacher's name]. His fascination with the piano grew into a lifelong vocation that has taken him across the concert stages of Europe.

He often integrates mathematical and generative systems into his compositions. He uses fractal models, Perlin noise, and algorithmic processes to shape evolving musical forms where patterns unfold organically across time. This approach gives his music an experimental edge while retaining coherence and expressive depth.

is notable work is Caught in a Suspended Frame, a piano trio dedicated to victims of recent seismic events in Naples, which won First Place at the 2025 North London Music Festival. Alongside his compositions, he has realised large-scale endurance performances, including a 25-hour performance of As Slow As Possible and a 40-hour interpretation of Erik Satie’s Vexations. Through these projects, his work redefines the perception of time in music, pushing beyond traditional boundaries of form, rhythm, and listening. Francesco will begin a Master’s degree in Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in September.
